I Didn't Do It!!!

That is what I seemed to be saying most of the day during the shower. Jamie, Alex's wife, was the creative force behind all the decorations and accessories. She made the cutest tags for the jars of flowers and it was her idea to have the bottles of wine to be signed as a "guest book". She also made the labels for the wine. Everybody was impressed and I am so happy that my "girls" are good at this stuff because I am not. I am glad to be able to be hospitality and clean-up. Thanks Jamie for all your efforts.

What A Weekend

Yesterday was the end of a great weekend for me. On Friday, we went to the Starr's to see the Hodnicks. We had a nice visit with Paul, Chris and Ashley. Colleen put out a spread that would have fed 100. Then Saturday night, we went to Dave's 60th birthday party. We got to see people that we haven't seen in FOREVER!!! Great time. Then yesterday we had Erik and Jamie's family shower. The day started out with RAIN and lots of it. Erik was out in the weather planting plants in the front. Poor guy was soaked. He then left for his tux fitting and the rain stopped, go figure. It was a mad dash to get things dried and set up before everyone showed up. Thank goodness Vicky showed up early or I would have never been close to being ready. Tyler got up and we put him to work too. Between the two of them they saved me. The afternoon turned out beautiful!! It was a little on the chilly side, but the sky was blue. There were a LOT of people here. I decided to put out all food, appetizers, main dishes and dessert at once. It worked!!! I have learned from other parties that it can be done. We had the BEST dessert table. I am so lucky that Colleen has these great serving dishes that I can borrow. Vicky's daughter in law made pastries and Vicky made her famous cheese cake in cupcake form. AWESOME!! Erik and Jamie got a lot of great gifts. There was a lot of thought put into them. I personally loved the gift from Cindy and Larry, it was a ladder!!!! I now have Easter coming up and I hope that it is as successful as the shower. Well, back to cleaning up the mess. Thanks to everyone who helped Erik and Jamie have such a great day.

Big Al is 30

My first born is 30 today. YIKES where has the time gone. Pretty soon we will be the same age. I am so proud of the man he has turned out to be. He has it all, great family, great looks, and is on the way up. He has had a great 30 years. The night we almost lost him seems so very far away. I know that the next 30 will be even better. I love him so much.

Ebay and me

Well, I have discovered the world of Ebay. OMG. I go on it everyday, usually at 4:30 in the morning. I need a new cell phone and when I went to Sams Club to look at them , the guy there told me to go on ebay and look. Sometimes I have looked at so much stuff that the computer gets even slower, so I have to stop and delete the browsing history. I am determined to get a $300 phone for $30 with free shipping. I think it will take awhile. I find out something new everytime I go on. This morning I got the bright idea to look at new toys for outside. WELL, I currently have 3 things I am bidding on. On one of them I hope I get outbid. I also discovered that you can retract a bid, if you do it soon enough. I bid on this 1 tool bench for kids that was $10. After I looked a little closer, the shipping was $35. WHAT THE F...... are they sending it by taxi?? So, I searched around until I found the form to retract a bid WHEW!!!!!!!!!!! This will teach me to REALLY check out the whole page before I do anything. Today I have to try and get Rick to finish a couple of projects that were started a while back, good luck with that. Yesterday he was out washing off the outside of the fireplace because he is going to paint it. He leaves for Chicago with some of his siblings on Wednesday and won't be back until the following Monday. So, if he is going to get anything done before the shower, it will have to be today. HA HA Well, back to ebay before I start my day. YEA!!! Daylight savings time is here.

So Excited!!

Yesterday was my birthday and it was GREAT!! I got a lot of phone calls and was pleasantly surprised who called. It is nice to be remembered. My cell phone is going south on me, but Vicky managed to get a message thru, she sang Happy Birthday to me while holding a can of Coors Light, a very tender moment. We went to our newest Friday night haunt, Felipe's, and everybody showed up, except the Frears - Debbie is sick again. Tim came and Jamie's parents, Gary and Shira, my brother Robin, Susan, Corey and Adam were also there. It was so nice. We kinda took over the middle of the back room. Colleen brought a cake, Vicky brought a cake, and Rick had Erik and Jamie go and get a cake!! Yes, we had cake and it was ALL very good. What I am so excited about is, Colleen gave me a Big City Slider Station for my birthday. I LOVE sliders and can't wait to get to the store to get ingredients for making sliders. Guess what we are having soon?? Vicky is coming next week and we are going to go to this fabric store that she has been telling me about. It will probably become my new obsession. I can't wait to go. Today I am going to try and get to Corey's baseball game. He is such a great player. Well, I better go and make up my list for the grocery store and the faric store. I also need to sort out what I have already for the shower for Erik and Jamie. I wonder if they would like sliders for the shower??? Hmmmmmmmm

My Opinion Is Confirmed

Well, as all of my few readers know, I am not a big fan of Kaiser. I know that is has greatly helped a couple, but my opinion of doctors in time of catastrophic illness remains the same. My neighbor Barbara was told yesterday that the cancer is now in her other breast, the one she asked to be taken with the other one, and her neck. She asked them if they will now remove it and they told her no, that they are just going to "try" and control the cancer. If these idiots would have acted sooner when she was first diagnosed this wouldn't be happening. Please pray for her.
