Good Bye Hank

We just got home from a memorial for Hank, Diane Edgar's dad. He passed away at the ripe old age of 90. He had a very full life, even had a girlfriend, and will be missed. It was so nice, dispite the circumstances, to see PJ, Diane and the girls. Carri, their youngest, was not there because she is in Paris for school. When she gets home, they will have the graveside services. Jamie is home and feeling better every day. Aiden is such a big help to her, what a sweety he is. Alex and he have made it very easy for Jamie to recover from her surgery. If you want to read more about it, go to their blog thebengards.blogspot.com. Rick has torn apart another part of the house, YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just keep looking at the calendar and wondering if it will be done before Easter. I am such a dreamer. I also found out that I have inherited the SUPER BOWL party from the O'Bri's. We were at the Kidney's playing cards and they let me know that they are not going to do Super Bowl anymore. I am looking forward to taking the baton. We have the big screen and I am really excited about it. So, 1 year from now, be here with your money for the pools!!!!!

It's Gotta Be Me

It is Friday and I am sooooo looking forward to this weekend. Tonight is Tony's and then tomorrow night we get to go to Tom and Kim's to celebrate Christainne and Oliver's engagement. I can't wait to see everybody. My, or I should say Tyler's, dog sitter is in the dog house with his parents and until he changes the problem, I won't be doing much. Even though Tyler will have weekends off for the next few months, he has already made plans to not come home until Sunday the 24th, which leaves me home with his dog until then. I love her to death, I just wish she wasn't such a baby about being alone. When I said is has gotta be me, I am talking about the newest problem, Verizon. They will never win an award for customer service. I sat on the phone on hold for 40 minutes before getting a dial tone. I have been online and on the phone just trying to find out how to disable voice mail. I FINALLY got a phone that has an answer machine and I can't get rid of the phone line voice mail from Verizon, then I go to get Garin from school and there is the crew from Verizn tearing up my front lawn laying the new FIOS stuff. I have been waiting for them since Jan. 16th. The guy gave me a phone number to call to find out when the tech will be here to install the new stuff inside and I was told by this brilliant man at Verizon that it would be January 16th. OK idiot, look up from your computer screen and look at the date on the calendar today, February 15th. He must be dumb enough to be twins. I finally got "Scott" who told me that we will be scheduled for March 3rd. I hope this isn't the beginning of the Verizon service nightmare. I have already done this with debit cards, I don't have the patience for this one.

Simple Things

Last night Rick went on his weekly run to Walmart for dvd's and came home with a new phone set-up. I am so happy!!!! I have been using Tyler's old cordless, and it is sure a sign of the times, but I hated not having caller ID. This one has a base phone with an answering machine and two others that only need a wall plug to work. I haven't had a phone in the kitchen in forever. See, simple things for simple minds. This weekend, Rick is SUPPOSED to take up the rest of the bamboo flooring and take it all back to Home Depot. It is sure pretty to look at, but I have hated it from the beginning. He and Erik have decided to put something in that is better for the amount of traffic that we have traveling thru the house. I even told him don't bother to put it in the living room, I want carpet. Now, let's start the clock. Easter is on March 23rd this year, any bets on what may not get done in time??? I am so jazzed for everybody to see my new kitchen, I LOVE IT. Geez, new kitchen, new floors, new phone, what's next, grass in the back??? (it is all dirt again right now). As long as it doesn't rain, I can wait until after the party to re-sod the back, I would rather it had time to get good and set and 4 weeks isn't going to do it. I am going to TRY and get some sort of plants in the front so that it at least looks like some lives here for once. I hope I can find one of those roll-out pads that has flower seeds in it. I am sooooo lazy.

FINALLY

Well, I finally got the right card and wasn't able to use it until today. Apparently, the brainiac at the bank canceled the bank card when she ordered the debit card. She also deleted my PIN number. That meant that I couldn't activate the card because you need a PIN number to use an ATM and since the card came 5 minutes after the bank closed on Saturday, I was SOL. But the wekend wasn't a total loss. At the super bowl party I won some money, not much, in the pool. I put it away to help pay for the bouncer and other stuff for the Easter party. Rick had to pay for my squares. I guess it is true, you do win on borrowed money. Word to the wise, DO NOT watch The Wicker Man with Nicholas Cage, good movie but the ending SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ATM Day 2 Part 2

It just gets better and better. I go to the bank to find out that if I get a new temporary card, it will cancel out the debit card that is coming. SO, if I miss the UPS man I will not only not have a debit card, but I won't even be able to go the ATM to get money. Isn't life just dandy!!! I swear, banks treat you like a felon if you rock the boat at all. Necessary evil I guess.

ATM Nightmare day 2

Remember yesterday when Rachel was so kind as to order me a debit card and all. Well. this morning I went to go online to check on my account as I do every morning, and it says "info not available". So, OK it is down to update. I fix breakfast for Garin and Tristan thinking that my day is fine. After I take Garin to school. I go thru the drive thru ATM to deposit some money and check my account there. The machine flashes for me to pick up the phone and speak to a representative. What the F...........??? So, I wait and when Naomi came on the line she looked up my info and gave me the good news that when Rachel ordered me a new card, she canceled this one. Of course, the bank isn't open yet so that I can go inside. YEA!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I have to go in and get ANOTHER temporary banking card so that I can at least use the ATM. The way this fiasco is going I don't want to take the chance that I miss the UPS man and not get my new debit card. How is your Friday going?????? Is it too early to have a drink?? It has to be noon somewhere.
